Anticipation builds as the time draws closer and closer to this year’s Lollapalooza 2012 festival.  Tickets are selling quickly with only about a month standing between now and the kick-off of the festival in Grant Park located in Chicago, Illinois.

Festival Summery

Lollapalooza 2012 is a music festival that features many popular artists from a wide range of genres including alternative rock, heavy metal, punk rock and hip hop. The festival also features comedy acts and craft booths. It has also been known to provide a platform for non-profit and political groups.

Every year there are over 160,000 people who attend the three day long music festival. Numerous bands reached great publicity there including METALLICA, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, NINE INCH NAILS, MUSE, ALICE IN CHAINS, 30 SECONDS TO MARS, FOO FIGHTERS, and many more!

Brief History

Lollapalooza began over twenty years ago with a man who had a vision. In 1991 the lead singer of the rock group Jane’s Addiction, Perry Farrell, began to plan a farewell show for the band. These plans soon grew into something much larger, and transformed into a “larger-than-life musical roadshow” according to Lollapalooza’s website.

Farrell was inspired by Bill Graham who was successful promoter and impresario (a person who funds and organizes concerts, plays or operas).  With the help of Ted Gardener, Marc Geiger, and Don Muller, the festival was put on its way and became a huge success.

What does Lollapalooza mean?

The word Lollapalooza is most commonly known to mean “an extraordinary or unusual thing, person, or event; an exceptional example or instance.” The word can also be used to refer to a large lollipop. Farrell heard the word in a Three Stooges short film.

Lolla 2012 festival begins on August 3rd! So don’t miss out on this awesome experience!

It probably seemed like the weekend flew by for those who attended the three day2012 Bamboozle Fest in late May of 2012. It would seem to be a success with awesome performances by the fantastic dubstep producer Skrillex on the first day, memorable rock n’ roll jams by the Foo Fighters the second day, and  the classic rock tunes of Bon Jovi the third day. So, let’s take one last look at the Bamboozle Festival 2012.

2012 Bamboozle Festival

Day 1 (May 18): Asbury Park, New Jersey welcomes all of its guests to kick off this festival that has been ten years in the making. Today fans are psyched to see some awesome performances by SKRILLEX, INCUBUS, MAC MILLER, and a wide variety of different artists with genres ranging from hip hop to hardcore metal! Other artists included WE CAME AS ROMANS and DJE-V.

Day 2 (May 19): With one successful day down and out of the way, fans return from their respected overnight establishments to begin yet another solid day of fun. It seemed that if one was a fan of modern rock music, today was a good day to be attending. Artists on the second day included the FOO FIGHTERS, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, ALL AMERICAN REJECTS, and other great acts like NEVER SHOUT NEVER, THE MAINE and MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK.

Day 3 (May 20): Unfortunately, it’s the last day, but at least fans can look forward to seeing some amazing performances by some of the most notable bands yet (at least according to some peoples’ preferences).  Day 3 consisted of the headliners BON JOVI, BRAND NEW, and THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM. In addition, there were performances by BUCKCHERRY, BOYS LIKE GIRLS, LIKE MOTHS TO FLAMES and TEXAS IN JULY.

Overall, it would seem to have been a great three days of music! Bamboozle Fest has come a long way since it evolved from Skate and Surf Festival to The Great Bamboozle in 2003. Its first headliners were Keller Williams, The Roots, and Dark Star Orchestra. To this day, the festival has a group of characters, some being real individuals with fake identities, and others being completely made up. Regardless, they all have their own purpose in the festival to make it run smoothly.

The American pop singer/songwriter from Santa Barbara, Katy Perry, is hard at work building her fame and fortune as 2012 presses on.  Despite her heart-breaking divorce with British Comedian Russell Brand, Perry’s carry has yet to be halted.  The amazing work ethic pushed her on, even though before some shows she’d have to bend down to let tears leave her eyes in order to prevent any make-up malfunctions.

Madonna isn’t Lady Gaga, and she wants you to know

Madonna, the 53-year-old pop icon/superstar veteran recently kicked off her “MDNA” tour in the holy land of Jerusalem. She incorporated her hit songs from over the last three decades into this performance including “Like a Virgin”, “Gang Band”, and “Revolver”. Of course she used the material from her recent album “MDNA”!

It would seem, however, that the pop star had something to prove in her performance at the Ramat Gan stadium on Tel Aviv’s outskirts. While performing, she managed to fit in a newly added sampling of Lady Gaga’s song “Born This Way” in to her song “Express Yourself”.  At the end of the song she yelled “She’s not me!”

The pop diva, Lady Gaga, made her way into stardom four years ago, releasing hits like “Poker Face” and “Bad Romance”. Since, she has acquired an enormous following and her own risky reputation. Gaga’s influences included Elton John, David Bowie, Queen, and you guessed it, Madonna.

There have been rumors and thoughts of a rivalry between the two superstars, as both show similar characteristics both with their music, performances, and philosophies. Many Fans and critics link Gaga with Madonna in the late 1980s.

So is there a hidden rivalry between these to pop stars? Does Madonna want superiority of the younger version of herself? You be the judge!

At game 3 of the western conference finals, the Young Money rapper, Lil Wayne, was denied access into the Chesapeake Energy Arena due to one simple reason. According to Thunders’ spokesman Dan Mahoney, the rappers people contacted OKC’s front office in regards to complimentary Oklahoma City Thunder tickets, but demanded front row seats, which were most-likely unavailable.

Apparently, this rapper felt it was his right to have front row seats with or without a ticket, unlike everyone else. He tweeted, “”Was going to go to the Thunder game tonight but was denied by the team to be in their arena. Wow. Smh. Go Spurs!”

Despite the hard feelings Mahoney claimed that Oklahoma City has sold out every game this season.  He then stated “We’d love to have him a game, but like anyone else, he needs a ticket.”

On a lighter note, let’s talk about the future of Lil Wayne. It seems the rapper has some future projects that he will be bringing to the table. He will be making a collaboration album called I Can’t Feel My Face with the rapper Juelz Santana. This project has been in progress for several years.

He will also be releasing a sequel to his 2010 album I Am Not a Human Being, with I Am Not a Human Being 2, which will be debuted this summer. It is also said he will create a sequel to Rebirth, yet another 2010 album.
