Neil Diamond Tour


At the age of 70 years old, Neil Diamond is still up and performing! His career has spanned over five decades, since the 1960s and is still going strong. He has sold over 115 million records worldwide including 48 million in the United States alone making him the thrid most successful adult contemporary artist ever on the Billboard chart. He is ranked just behind Barbra Streisand and Elton John.


He was born in Brooklyn, New York, and was raised by his Jewish parents who descened from Russian and Polish Immigrants. His father was a dry-goods merchant. He was member of the fencing team at Abraham Lincoln High School, and after graduating, attended New York University on a fencing scholarship. He would often warm up with fencing exercises before his concerts. He had many asperations before achieving musical success, including wanting to be a laboratory biologist.

After getting an offer from a music publishing company his senior year in NYU, Neil Diamond began his journey on the road to success. His first venture was “Neil and Jack”, with his high school friend Jack Packer. This project seemed unsuccessful, which led to his career as a solo performer, under Columbia Records. His first success in song writing came from the song he wrote, “Sunday and Me”, for Jay and the Americans.


Neil Diamond has released 31 studio albums, including On the Way to the Sky, Up On The Roof: Songs From The Brill Building, and his most recent album titled Dreams, released in 2010. He has also released multiple live albums and compilations. He is currently touring the United States and Canada, with well over 25 shows booked for 2012 already.
