NOFX 2012 On Tour

The punk rock band from Los Angeles, California, NOFX (pronounced “no effects”) seems to be a very interesting, fun loving, and definitely successful. With classic influences like The Misfits, Sex Pistols, Bad Religion, and SNFU, their music is nothing but acceptation, reaching out to many major punk rock fans. I just watched their music video titled “Seeing Double at The Triple Rock”, and I found it to be punk rock gold!   Many of their songs have comedic lyrics, poking fun at other bands such as The Offspring, with songs like “Whoa on the Whoas” which emphasizes the amount of times they use the word “whoa”. Other songs are brief like “I Gotta Pee” which is only 32 seconds long, while they have songs like “The Decline” which last over 18 minutes! Some of their recent songs are more serious, focusing on issues like politics, racism, sexism, drug use, and religion. NOFX currently consists of the members Fat Mike, El Hefe, Eric Melvin, and Erik Sandin and is touring in the United States with Old Man Markley. They’ve release 11 studio albums, including Liberal Animation, White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean, So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes, Wolves in Wolves’ Clothing, and most recently, Coaster.   Interestingly, NOFX has never been signed to a major lable, and doesn’t get to involved in much media. They’ve refused to be broadcast on MTV and VH1, and stated that they don’t need any more exposure than they already have. However they have broadcast ed their own show on Fuse TV entitled NOFX: Backstage Passport. Nonetheless the band seems to have a strong view on the government and media, and stick to their guns.
