As a rather big fan, I couldn’t agree more that the Red Hot Chili Peppers diserve this spot. Their music is so original, mixing elements of funk, rock n’ roll, blues, and even rap (not so much in their latest music). They’ve been around since 1983, despite their breif hiatus in 2008, ending in 2009. Their current line up is Anthony Kiedis on vocals, Flea on bass, Chad Smith playing drums, and Josh Klinghoffer on guitar.

Their latest album, I’m With You, was released in 2011, and it is a breath of fresh air. Their maturity as musicians is expressed, though their original roots are still present, which is great! Many songs have strong bass lines, promoting funk, psychedelic, punk, and hard rock styles. The guitar, as always, provides catchy riffs, and the drums erupt with a sense of rock and funk. Lead singer Anthony Kiedis has truely evolved since their first album, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, released in 1984. Needless to say, I love this album.

They are currently touring throughout the United States and Europe, playing hits from their new album and some other popular songs.
